There are two approaches to Huawei IP telephony conversations recording, Passive mode and Active mode.

In Passive mode (mirror port), Crystal Quality ® (CQ as short in the following) captures setup information including Caller/called ID, call direction and others that will be abstracted from Huawei IP communication call capture protocol and voice information from the RTP packets.

CQ Solution Architecture – Passive Mode

Scenario 1: Interactions between extensions need to be recorded

  • All extensions must be registered in SBC.
  • Mirror all the data packets transited on SBC with a SPAN enabled switch, and deliver to CQ recoding server.
  • By decoding RTP streaming and extracting D-ch raw information from the packets, and adding into CQ database.
  • In case of hybrid or a transitional environment, for instance, part of analog extensions connecting to Huawei U1960 via Huawei IAD.

Scenario 2: No Need To Record Internal Telephony Conversations

  • SBC would not be necessary for that scenario.

CQ Solution Architecture – Active Mode

Huawei Active Recording Mode (Silent monitoring recording)

  • As a unique recording solution dedicated to Huawei Platform, CQ will be simulated as a group of virtual SIP extensions and registered on Huawei U1960 or U1981 via the SIP trunk.
  • All of the agent extensions which need to be recorded will be configured as “Automated” or “Record on Demand”.
  • Once a telephone conversation is started, the recording will be triggered.
  • Or users press the function key (start/stop recording) one desk phone or softphone during telephony conversation, the recording will be started or stopped manually.
